Hi, my name is Dimitrios Asithianakis. I was born in Germany in 1965 to Greek immigrant parents. In 1971 my parents brought me back to Greece to go to a Greek school. I grew up in Athens where I graduated from public school and went on to study photography, video and new technologies at the Focus school of photography.  After that I did postgraduate studies in photography and I have a master’s degree from Middlesex University of London, “MA in Photography and Visual Language”. I have two children, Odysseus was born in 1998 and Electra was born in 2000

I have been a professional photographer since 1993 and a teacher of photography since 1996, I teach lessons and hold photography seminars both online and offline. I made my first website about photography in 2001 and since then I have been working in internet marketing and the creation of online travel guides for various destinations in Greece and around the world. Prior to this I had lived a colourful life and have done more than 46 different types of jobs. My first camera was an Agfa Optima which I got it in 1977. In 1987 I bought a Zenith 12XP and in 1991 a Nikon FM2. In 2001 I bought my first digital camera a Sony Cyber shot 2MP and in 2011 my first DSLR a Nikon D7000, and in 2013 my first Full Frame DSLR a Nikon D610. I photographed occasionally with cameras such as Olympus, Fuji, Minolta, Canon, Pentax, Kiev, Panasonic, Leica, Practika, Contax, Rolleiflex, Lubitel, Yashica, Campo, Sinar, Toyo, Hasselblad. My favorite camera has not yet been released.

I love to travel and to take photographs, although I enjoy all aspects of life and the arts. I especially like writing and teaching. My favorite city to live in is Athens, although I love Rome and Barcelona, and I feel at home in these cities. My favorite trip is one that I have yet to take and I feel the same way about my photography, my favorite photos are the ones that have not yet been taken. I think the most beautiful places on earth are the islands of the Aegean Sea and especially the island of Santorini which has a special place in my heart.
